Welcome to the Laboratory of Ultrafast Integrated Systems (LUIS) at the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute. Our research covers a wide variety of topics from mmWave to optical wavelengths, intending to realize exotic and novel electromagnetic functionalities in an integrated platform. The objectives of our researches include, and are not limited to, communication, security, imaging, and sensing.

LUIS is the place where creativity is cultivated through a multidisciplinary approach across electromagnetics, integrated circuit, mmWave, and Terahertz systems, biochemistry, machine-learning, and advance signal processing through artificial intelligence. We look into systems both as grandiose as the galaxy, and systems as minute as proteins.
