JI Multiscale (JIM) Combustion Group
We are a research group at the UM-SJTU Joint Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Research Interests
Fundamental research:
- Turbulent combustion modeling
- Aerosol and particle dynamics in flames
- High performance algorithms for reacting flows
- Chemical kinetics and mechanism reduction
Applications
- Engines: internal combustion engines; gas turbines; scramjet; detonation engines
- Pollutants: soot formation and evolution
- Flame synthesis: funtional material formation in flames
- AI-enpowered algorithms: Physics informed operator learning for ODEs and PDEs in reacting flows
- Chemical mechanisms: mechanism construction and reduction for releastic fuels
Prospective Graduate Students
We have 1-2 Ph.D openings and 1-2 Master openings every year. If you are interested in the Master or Ph.D. programs in UM-SJTU JI, please send your CV to Prof. Zhou by email. You can also refer to https://www.ji.sjtu.edu.cn/cn/admission/ for details.
For SJTU Undergraduate Students
We are always looking for highly self-motivated undergraduate students. If you have interest, please directly drop me an email (dezhi.zhou@sjtu.edu.cn) or come to my office for a meeting (Longbin Building 521). A well-designed project will be assigned to every undergraduate student in our group. Our undergraduate alumni have published some top journal papers. Examples: Hao Zhang (ME in JI) won the only first prize in the first international OpenFOAM combustion workshop; Mo Yang (ECE in JI) submited one Fuel paper; Yuting Weng (ECE in JI) published a JPCA paper.
